Common Causes & symptoms of Mylagia and trapezitis and it’s Homeopathic Treatment

Mylagia and trapezitis

Myalgia is generally known as a muscle ache or muscle pain. Muscle pain can be localised in one muscle or a few muscles or generalized, involving muscles all over the body.

Which muscles are commonly affected with pain?

The pain can involve any muscle of the body but the main muscles that ache are deltoid muscle (muscle covering shoulder and upper part of outer side of the upper arm), muscles of neck, muscles of lower back, calf muscles (muscles of back of leg) and thigh muscles.

Trapezitis :-

Trapezitis is an inflammation caused in the trapezius muscles which further leads to pain and spasm in the neck. It is increasingly becoming common among people working at desk, using computers and also those who do physical labor or use their neck and back muscles a lot.

Trapezius myalgia (TM) is the complaint of pain, stiffness, and tightness of the upper trapezius muscle. It is characterised by acute or persistent neck-shoulder pain.

Trapezius muscle strain is a common injury that happens when you stretch the muscle too far. In severe injuries, the muscle can tear. To avoid injury and keep your traps strong, you should warm up before exercise

Where is the Trapezius & What are The function of the Trapezius ?

The trapezius is the most superficial muscle in the back, which means it’s just under the skin. It extends from a point at the base of the neck and goes across both shoulders and down your back. It ends at a point in the middle of your back.

The trapezius muscles attach to several bones, including the spine, scapulae (shoulder blades), ribs and clavicle (collarbone). A cranial nerve (a nerve that originates from the brain) controls the trapezius.

The trapezius (traps muscle) helps you move your head, neck, arms, shoulders and torso. It also stabilizes your spine and helps with posture

Some of the common causes of Trapezitis include:

Working for a long period in the same position.

Reading a book in an awkward position for a prolonged period.

Driving for long distances.

Watching television in the same or an awkward posture for long time.

Breast feeding women too can suffer from trapezitis, especially if she bends her shoulder while feeding her baby.

Some people may also experience trapezitis, due to weak muscles of the neck and back, which may have resulted from other health conditions or injuries. Trauma, fall or blow on the neck or back can be one of the causes of trapezitis.

What symptoms will develop if you have  Trapezitis ?

Episodes of chronic neck pain in short intervals

Headaches on the temples/base of the skull

Severe neck stiffness

An inflamed or aching shoulder

Limited range of motion

Nerve compression is followed by tingling, numbness, or weakness in the arms, hands, and fingers on the affected side.

How to Prevent Trapezitis ?

Maintain proper postural alignment throughout the day to decrease any strain created on your neck. Place your work at eye level to avoid awkward postures.

Encourage pain-free movement. After an injury, your neck will become stiff. Start gentle movements as soon as possible. This will help to restore full range of motion, reduce pain from swelling and muscle spasms and prevent your muscles from becoming weak.

Take frequent breaks (every 30 minutes) and do stretching and range of motion exercises.

Sleep on a firm mattress. Use a thin pillow to lie on your back or a thick pillow to lie on your side. This will keep your neck in alignment with your spine. Avoid sleeping on your stomach.

Exercises that help strengthen the upper body with or without weights and resistance bands will be helpful in the long run.

Assessment of calcium and vitamin D levels in case of suspected deficiency is a must.
